We are so smitten with the idea of getting married at an antique carousel, or as we like to call it, the “Marry Go Round”.  Especially when the carousel is on the beautiful Connecticut shore with stunning vistas of Long Island Sound.

The details from the photographer Joanna Fisher:

Hayley & Alex wanted to celebrate their love somewhere unique and fun, hoping to capture the essence of their relationship on the day they became husband and wife. At Lighthouse Point Carousel, a Connecticut historic landmark, they achieved just that. Built in 1916, the historic carousel is housed in the pavilion building, a large, open building right on the Long Island Sound. Guests spent the evening alternating between fun on the dance floor, and fun on the unique hand carved wooden horses – a piece of New England history! The bride wore a blush pink gown encrusted in rhinestones and dripping with ruffles – a perfect nod to her fun, artistic spirit. The flowers, designed by Bleached Butterfly, were the perfect complement to the day, showing off unique and unexpected blooms, playing off of the quirky spirit of the location.

Insights from Mackenzie on the inspiration behind this lovely engagement session:

The unique beauty that Montana winters have to offer is easy to be inspired by. The blue mountains, the snow adventures, and having to cuddle to stay warm. What could be better than going on a snowy adventure with your love and snuggling on the chair lift?

We couldn’t agree more Mackenzie!

Galveston Island Indian and Norwegian Wedding - Endless Exposures Photography - smitten-mag.com_0637

You can’t get much more original a combination than the cultural blend of this Norwegian and Indian wedding.  Set in the coastal town of Galveston, Texas, photographer, Endless Exposures gives us the inside perspective…

When I first heard from my bride Nadia and asked about her love story, she said “I’m a Texan, he’s Norwegian,..and we met and now live in NYC together!” Nadia’s Hotel Galvez had beautiful colors: pinks, golds, oranges, and greenery throughout her reception.. with Indian, Texas, and Norwegian traditions incorporated throughout the day. We absolutely adored her boho-chic lace dress from BHLDN that she paired with a baby’s breath floral crown by Island Flowers. You know it’s going to be a fantastic wedding when there’s not just one, but two wedding dresses. Nadia later changed into her Indian wedding attire to dance the night away with her groom on the colorfully lit up dance floor inside the Galvez’s Terrace Ballroom. The couple loved that the hotel had so much historical and romantic charm.  Guests enjoyed cocktail hour in the beautiful Terrace Ballroom while the couple and family took their formal portraits. When the couple was introduced to the reception they were greeted with their closest family and friends to watch them stride into their first dance. They had a Polaroid guest book table setup that entertained guests the entire evening, along with an Anniversary box for everyone to write a note of well wishes, sealed tight until their first anniversary.  We made sure and snapped a Polaroid of the couple at the end of the night so they could join in on the festivities!  I remember talking to Nadia in the hotel room while she was getting ready, and she had told me she wanted a beautiful, organic, and colorful wedding. Nadia got just that with the simplicity and airiness of everything from her beautiful gown, decorations, seagulls in the sky, air in the palm trees, and the sunset as they walked down the aisle.
